If your school has Accelerated Reader, students will see an option for taking an AR Reading Practice Quiz after reading a myON book (if the book has an AR quiz). Students can also choose to take an AR quiz for myON books that they read outside of myON.
How to find myON books that have Accelerated Reader Quizzes
Students can see if Accelerated Reader quizzes are available for a book by looking for the buttons described in step 1 below. Teachers can open the book information window for a book and select the i / Details tab; if the AR Quiz information shows a quiz number (not a dash), the book has an AR quiz.
You can also use AR Bookfinder. Follow these steps:
- Go to arbookfind.co.uk.
- Select Advanced Search.
- Select the first Additional Criteria drop-down list and choose myON Books. You can choose other search criteria if you would like.
- Select Search.
- After you finish reading a myON book that has an AR quiz, on the book rating page, select the Take AR Quiz button.
If you read the book outside of myON, you can still take the AR quiz (if one is available). Find the book in myON and select it. Then, select Take AR Quiz.
You can also select Take AR Quiz in the book information window.
If you access myON through the Renaissance Home page, and the Take AR Quiz button is not available for a book that has an AR quiz, IP restrictions may be keeping you from taking AR quizzes on your computer. Ask your teacher to talk to your Renaissance software administrator about the restrictions and where AR quizzes should be allowed.
If you do not access myON through the Renaissance Home page, and IP restrictions are keeping you from taking the quiz, after you click Take AR Quiz, a message will tell you that you cannot use AR right now. The message will tell your teacher that the administrator has set IP restrictions.
- A new browser tab or a new window will open for your Accelerated Reader quiz. Enter the user name and password that you use to log in to Accelerated Reader.
- Answer the quiz questions. After the quiz, you will see your results and your progress in Accelerated Reader as you usually do. When you are ready to return to myON, close the tab or browser window for the Accelerated Reader quiz.
Some Accelerated Reader preferences may prevent students from taking a quiz in Accelerated Reader, including date and time restrictions and book level and interest level restrictions. Accelerated Reader may also ask for an authorisation password. If the student sees a message relating to one of these, they should talk to their teacher to find out how to take the quiz. The preference settings may need to be adjusted by the teacher (for class and student preferences) or an administrator (for school preferences).
