When teachers log into myON, they can see a dashboard that shows them information about their class, groups, students and their students' reading in myON. Teachers can go back to this page by selecting the myON logo at the top of any page.
You will see a list of the students in your class and information about their reading. You will also see information for your class and groups as a whole.
Above the table of students, you will see options that let you choose the information you want to see. You can choose to see information about their reading (time spent reading, books finished, and pages read), student recordings, their scores on myON book quizzes, and how many assignments they have been assigned.
Reading
When Reading is selected, you can see information about your students' reading, including time spent reading, books finished, and pages read. Select an option below the heading to choose the information to see.
Choose the Time Periods to Show and Compare
Use the drop-down list in the top right corner of the page to choose the time periods you want to see or compare data for. This school year shows the totals for the entire school year. The other choices are comparisons; you can compare data for yesterday and today, last week and this week, or last month and this month.
Time Spent Reading
Time Spent Reading shows you how many minutes students have read. If you chose to see data for the last and current month, week, or day, you will see time spent reading for both time periods. The second to last column shows the trend; a green arrow pointing up like those shown below means students spent more time reading in the current time period, while a red arrow pointing down means they spent less time. You can sort students by the information in most columns by clicking the column heading.
The left side of the page shows whether the class as a whole and each group have spent more or less time reading in the current time period.
Books Finished
When "Books Finished" is selected, you will see how many books each of the students has read. If you chose to compare two time periods, you will see the number of books each student finished for each time period, and in the Trend column, you will see whether the student finished more books in the most recent time period (green arrow) or fewer books (red arrow).
On the left side of the page, you will see books finished for the class as a whole and the groups.
To see the books read by individual students, select the student's name, then select Books read.
Pages Read
When "Pages read" is selected, the view is very similar to the Books Finished view, but the number of pages read is shown in all cases instead of books finished. The same time periods and comparisons are available that you will see for Books Finished.
Recording
On the Recording tab, you will see information about the recordings that your students have made of their own reading.
First, use the drop-down list to choose the time period to view recordings for: this school year, last month and this month, last week and this week, yesterday and today, or simply the last activity (recording) for each student.
If you choose one of the options that compares time periods, you can also choose whether to see and compare the total duration of recordings, the number submitted, or the number in progress.
In the Last Activity view, for each student on your roster who has recorded books, you will see information about their last recording, including the date, the duration, the number of pages, the book name, and whether the recording has been submitted to the teacher or is in progress.
If you view data for this school year, for each student, you will see the total duration of all of their recordings, the number of pages they recorded, the number of recordings they turned in, and the number that are in progress.
To see all of the recordings a student has made, and to listen to those recordings, select the student's name. You will go to the student's page with the "Books recorded" tab selected; on that page, you can select a recording to listen to it; you can also delete recordings.
Quizzes
When "Quizzes" is selected, you can see how students have been performing on myON book quizzes. (Note that this does not show performance on Accelerated Reader Quizzes; see Accelerated Reader for that data.)
For each student, you will see the student's average quiz scores for the time periods you are comparing (last month and this month, last week and this week or yesterday and today). In the Trend column, you will see whether the scores are up (green arrow) or down (red arrow) in the current time period. If you have chosen to view the school year, you will see the overall average quiz scores for the entire year.
On the left, you will see the overall average quiz scores for the class and each group (and the trends if you have chosen to compare time periods).
Assignments
When "Assignments" is selected, you will see a list of the assignments for the class, the due date, and how many students have completed the assignment versus the number of students who have it assigned. To go directly to the student progress view for an assignment, select View Progress in the row for the assignment. No time periods are selected for this view; the numbers reflect the assignments assigned this school year.
To the left, you will see the total number of assignments assigned to your roster and each group; note that these totals count each assignment once for each student.
For more information about assignment status, see Determining Assignment Completion.
Printing
You can print the data you are viewing on any tab by selecting the print icon and selecting the printer to use.
