- At the top of any myON page, select My Group, then Group Settings.
- Select theĀ Account Options tab.
- Make your changes as needed. For more about the settings, see the information below. When you have finished, click Save in the upper right-hand corner.

Year-Level Reading
These settings allow you to control the availability of books based on their recommended year range and students' years. You can choose whether to do the following:
- Decide which years are allowed to read books that are above their year (based on the recommended years for each myON book). If you want to restrict reading above year, use the drop-down list to choose the lowest year that is allowed to read books above their level; in the example below, year 3 is selected. The tick box lets you decide whether school administrators are allowed to change the setting for their own schools.
- Set whether school administrators are allowed to set a minimum year for individual myON books in their school on the Books tab of the school's Account page. If this box is not ticked, the Group Administrator can still set minimum years that apply to all schools.
- Choose whether teachers can assign books in their assignments that are above students' years. This allows students to read the books as part of an assignment, even if the books would normally be restricted for the students. A second tick box lets you decide whether school administrators are allowed to change the setting for their own schools.
Book Collections
Choose whether school administrators are allowed to choose which book collections are available in their school. If this is not allowed, all collections are available to all schools.
myON News Management
Use these settings to manage student access to news articles.
Note: Administrators will always see all articles, regardless of the settings; they will also see a notice on any article that has been flagged as sensitive content or legislation-related content. Teachers will see articles that have minimum years set to specific years, but they will not see articles with the "No Access" setting.
Sensitive Content
In the drop-down list under "Sensitive content", choose the lowest year that should have access to news articles that are flagged as having sensitive content (typically content having to do with violence). By default, this is set to the lowest year, which would mean all students can access and read these articles. If you choose a year, students in that year and higher can access the articles. If you choose "No Access", no students or teachers can access the articles (teachers are not affected by other minimum year settings).
Below the setting, the tick box lets you decide whether school administrators can choose different settings for their own schools. Tick the box if you want to allow school administrators to do this. When the box is ticked, school administrators can choose to use the group setting or their own setting.
When a student or teacher does not have access to an article, they see the message "This article is unavailable" instead of the article title and image as shown below.
Legislation-Related Content
In the drop-down list under "Legislation-related content", choose the lowest year that should have access to news articles on topics that are regulated in schools by some legislatures. As in the sensitive content setting, students in the year you selected and higher years will see the news articles; younger students will not.
Below that setting, use the tick box to choose whether to allow school administrators to choose different settings for their own schools.
Allowing School Administrators to Set Minimum Years Directly on News Articles
Group administrators can set a minimum year for any news article while viewing it. If you tick the last box under "myON News Management", school administrators can do so as well for their own schools, and their settings for each article will be used for students in their school instead of the group administrator settings.
Group-Created Content
Set whether the assignments that users in your group share will be shared only in your group or with all myON users, regardless of group. Even if you do not allow sharing, users in your group can still find assignments that myON or other users have shared in the cloud.
User Management
Set whether school administrators and teachers can create new users, or whether only group administrators may do so. If allowed, school administrators can create teachers and students; teachers can create new students.
CEFR Book Levels
Sets whether teachers and students can filter by books with specific Common European Framework of Reference levels on the Browse tab in the Library (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, or C2). This option is off (unticked) by default.
School Year
Set the start date for your group's myON school year. You can use the default (August 1) or a custom date. If you choose a custom date, use the drop-down lists to choose the month and day of the start of each school year. The date that you enter will be the start of the new school year every year; on that date, students and teachers will begin working in a new school year.
